"There is a time for everything – Ecclesiastes"
You don't need more time. And besides you can't get more anyway.
What you need is more energy.
Last night I started a new stretching program (The Whartons' Stretch Book). Afterwards I felt more creative and I slept better.
It occurred to me that I'm regularly trying to find another minute here or another half-hour there for something I want to do. You know what? I have all the time I need.
I spend way too much time in activities I think are going to refresh me but end up draining me (read dumb TV and movies).
I challenge you to . . .
- Quit saying "I'm too busy". That statement isn't true and leads to more stress.
- Start carefully evaluating the things you are doing to rest and recover.
- Start an exercise program that incorporates the "big three": cardio, strength training, and stretching. My current routine is based in large part on FrameWork
.
So . . . you read that last point and thought, "I know I should but I've tried and tried again". Guess what: you are a more mature person now than when you last tried. Try one more time!
When I turned 40, I discovered my secret formula . . .
- Start ridiculously small (I started with 5 minutes of running per WEEK)
- Build in ridiculously small steps (I added 5 minutes per WEEK)
- Keep adding until get to where you want (I'm still adding and tweaking years later)
Prior to this I had tried various fitness programs for over 20 years and failed. It worked for me, it might work for you.
Invest in fitness and enjoy the benefits of more time energy.
